How to configure my Outlook Express email

The settings that are required to configure your Outlook Express client are are outlined below, however if you wish to follow the tutorial please do.

  • Your Name: Your Name
  • Email Address: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
  • Incoming Server (POP): mail.yourdomain.com
  • Outgoing Server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com
  • Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires Authentication


1. Open Outlook Express. Click on Tools, Accounts. Click Add, Mail.

2. Type your Name in the next box, click Next.
3. Type your full email address in the box and hit Next.
4. The mail settings will be the same; mail.mydomain.com in both the outgoing and incoming servers:

5. Type your full email address and your password in the next two boxes. Click Next, then finish.
6. To change your outgoing server settings, open the Accounts back up, and click on the mail tab. Click on Properties.

7. Click the Server tab. At the bottom of the tab will be “My Server requires authentication”. Tick this box, click Apply then OK.

8. You’re done!
