FTP Accounts in DotNetPanel

Small Business Hosting customers use the feature rich DotNetPanel to manage their own accounts. This guide will take you through the steps of updating a FTP account for your domain. All of your domains will come with an FTP account already installed.  Using this guide you will be able to change the password, its level of access and where the account logs into.



1.    The first step is to log into the DotNetPanel. Visit https://cp.itcinternet.net/ using your web browser- whether that is Internet Explorer of Firefox.
2.    Type in your login information you were provided by your welcome email. Your username will generally be your domain. If you forgot your password you can use our “Forgot your password” link on the front page.

3.    Once you are logged in your will be presented with our Account Home page.  Click your User Space (generally your domain name).
4.    On the left hand menu, select FTP.

5.    Click on the FTP account in question. The default is named after your website domain.  The screen below shows you what information you can update. You can change the FTP account password by retyping the password twice into the required boxes and clicking Save.

6.    If you don’t want to give the FTP account full access to your website resources, you can change its Home folder and Access Rights. The Home folder will be the where that account essentially logs into- i.e. the folder for which it has access to. Giving FTP accounts different Home Folders allows you to control which users can access what files.

7.    This access can be further tweaked through Access rights which allow you define whether the account can read (download and open) or write (upload new files and overwrite old ones).
